Alternative ways to arrive to Bled/Slovenia

Most of you will probably fly into Slovenia to Ljubljana/Brnik airport with Adria/Lufthansa co-shared flights from either Frankfurt or Munich. Lufthansa is the member of Star Aliance (as United is from the US side). There are also Adria/Air France co-shared flights from Paris and Adria flights from London, Copenhagen, Dublin, Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Brussels (http://www.adria-airways.com/).
Swiss is not flying any more to Ljubljana.

These are convenient ways to come, but there are alternatives.

You may wish to fly to Munich and than take a train through very nice Alpine region in Austria.

You may wish to fly to Venice or Vienna, rent a car and drive to Slovenia (to Bled there are 3 hours drive from Venice and 5 hours from Vienna; highways are good).

Brand new alternative:

Since May (when Slovenia enters EU), there will be EasyJet flies from London Stansted to Ljubljana. Easy Jet (http://www.easyjet.com/) is a low fare company. Up to now I have got (excellent) experience only with its rival company Ryanair (http://www.ryanair.ie/), but this one flies from London Stansted only to the towns close to Slovenian boarder (Klagenfurt, Venice, Graz; you can still use this option and rent a car there). Please note that these are reliable companies with new aircrafts (I can confirm this for Ryanair).

One-way flight from London to Ljubljana in the time of the workshop is now (as you know such prices fluctuate depending on demand) 7 GBP (without tax, which is more than this) and 7 EUR from Ljubljana to London.

Of course there is (as always) also an important minus. To travel from London-Heathrow to London Stansted you need to pass the city. You should allow at least 4 hours for transfer (I did it in 3.5 hours, but I would definitely not recommend such a short time).

Therefore, if you do not wish to include one or more days of London into your itinerary at least one way, you may not opt for this option.

Flight timetable for EasyJet (seems that they will fly daily):
London to Ljubljana: 12:45 -15:55
Ljubljana to London: 16:15 -17:25

You may wish to include Dubrovnik in Croatia. However, the connections from Dubrovnik to Ljubljana are tricky (please contact me, if you are interested).
