Adrenaline sports
Younger participants or those young by hearth may find Slovenia as perfect place to try some more extreme sports (although I do not want to take any responsibility for that). The best part is that you can find not extreme variations, suitable also for the people of our type. For me and my family, canyoning along the canyon in the valley of Voje in Bohinj has been always the ultimate experience. Canyoning is typically reserved for a very special type of people (not a bit like to professors). But this one is suitable for everyone who only dare to jump a couple of meters high into the water. If someone is interested to swim (or better float in a wet suit) along the sheer walls of the gorge, please contact me as soon as possible. I feel that organizing such an excursion is the most special thing I can do for our visitors at the workshop. Unfortunately the chances of the visit are small because of the very strict natural protection (very limited number of people is admitted to the gorge) and safety considerations (if the water is higher than certain level, there is absolutely no chance of the visit). Therefore in June everything depends on the melting of the snow. Canyoning in the Soca region is really extreme. So is kayaking. But someone experienced will be more than pleasantly surprised. Rafting is another, less special, but enjoyable activity, which in general is not an extreme sport. In particular close to Bled on the Sava-Dolinka river is an easy one (level 2 in general). Sava-Bohinjka is more demanding. Soca is perfect for rafting with different levels (up to 4). Rafting excursion can be easily organized for a group or single person and offered by several tour operators. I really recommend it. There is an activity I am personally afraid of, but my family enjoys it very much - paragliding in a tandem from the mountains above the lake Bohinj. You jump right across the lake up to 1 km over the water level. If you are a climber, Slovenia is the right place for you. More “normal” sports include mountain biking, swimming and all sorts of rowing and wind surfing. Motor boats are not allowed on
Slovenian lakes
and rivers. |
